Sections comprise a number of blocks of track, which are shown in plan view Up to 4 blocks of trackwork are shown on the screen at any one time Trackwork shown to scale of 640 pixels = 1/2 Mile = 1 block Screen shows position of trains on track in plan format For the track plan driving simulation: Blocks are automatically scrolled to show more track User drives one train, other trains (varying diagrams) automatically driven User controls are brake, tractive effort, and direction selector Train performance determined by mass, TE characteristic, moving resistance and prevailing gradients. Different types of train can be selected see below for more details. The program can be used to create extra trains. Also new trains can be created which have new stopping diagrams detailing stations to call at, arrival times and departure times. The timetabler has displays which show the train diagrams and paths in colour chart format, also there is a full 24 Hour picture of train entry times on the screen. The timetabler has a test facility which allows user selectable trains to be run at any time of day thus revealing any bottlenecks there may be at a particular junction or station. Also the facility to have trains split can be introduced by the timetabler, so that the locomotive detaches from the front of the train The timetabler also can be used to decode the simulation time table from compressed format into an expanded document suitable for printout.
