Photographs of the Raasay Iron mines railway system
The line reached the processing plant at a high level, to allow gravity feeding of the furnaces. The foundations on the left carried the line up to the furnaces, mixing coal and ore. The processed ore was more concentrated and was fed into the hooper above the pier. The Skye-Raasay ferry is just leaving.
